We all want the best for our loved ones, but sometimes it's hard to be there for others when you're struggling with your own past.

Kirra and Jason* came to The Infants’ Home looking to build a better life for their family. Traumatic childhood experiences including family violence, drug misuse and being removed from birth parents left emotional scars that were difficult to live with. Sometimes they made choices that compromised their family’s wellbeing, and it was hard for them to break this cycle.

Referred to The Infants’ Home by her local women’s health centre, Kirra was afraid that staff here would judge her. Instead, our dedicated team welcomed them with open arms.

Having no car and a limited income, the family found it hard to get to The Infants' Home. We were able to provide transport and fee scholarships, ensuring that the children had access to early education, especially in those crucial preschool years.

Our social workers also helped Kirra and Jason access needed health services for their twin boys. Our educators, speech pathologists and occupational therapist are working with the twins to address their language delay and help get them ready for school.

Thanks to people like you, we can provide a range of services to empower families like Kirra and Jason’s to build a better future for themselves.
